Welcome to Sacred Heart - St. Mary Catholic Parish! |
 |
Fr. Charles Atuah, MSP, belongs to The Missionary Society of St. Paul of Nigeria. He arrived in Port Arthur on July 1, 2004 as the Pastor of St. Mary Parish, East Port Arthur and Sacred Heart Church, West Port Arthur. St. Mary Parish was the first Catholic Church in Port Arthur and was established in 1903. Sacred Heart Church was the first Black Catholic Church in Port Arthur and was founded by the Josephites in 1915. Due to the terrible damage of Hurricane Rita to St. Mary Parish, besides other problems that had accumulated over the years, St. Mary Parish was forced to close and merge with Sacred Heart Church. On April 23, 2006 the two Parishes were merged, hence, the new name: Sacred Heart - St. Mary Parish. We are all pilgrims listening to the Lord through the events of our lives and following Him.
In the name of the people of God in our parish family, I welcome you to Sacred Heart - St. Mary Parish online.
Whether you are just browsing through the web or looking for a church home, we believe God has brought you to the one site you needed to visit. We hope you sense our excitement about our being able to reach out to you at this level and share with you a unique opportunity of how God has been blessing us in Sacred Heart - St. Mary Parish.
Welcome to our Parish!
Rev. Charles Atuah, MSP, Pastor. |
